Woman charged with attempted murder after Tenn. cop shot
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Six days after a Tennessee police officer was shot during a confrontation in which a suspect committed suicide, a second suspect in the case has turned herself in, reports CBS affiliate WTVF.
Nashville Police Officer Terrance McBride was shot in the shoulder on Dec. 13, while serving a warrant at a motel, according to police. Investigators say a woman, alleged to be Kathleen Daly, let McBride and other officers into her motel room, telling police she was alone. Moments later, Paul Hardesty allegedly opened the bathroom door and fired his shotgun, hitting McBride in the shoulder.McBride and his partner fired back before retreating from the room. During the commotion, the suspect believed to be Daly ran away and when officers returned to the room, they found Hardesty dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Daly surrendered early Monday morning and has been charged with attempted murder. Police said both Daly and Hardesty remain under investigation in relation to a number of robberies and burglaries across middle Tennessee. McBride is recovering from the shotgun blast at his home, according to police.
