Biggest Celebrity Feuds of 2016
With all the horrible things going on in the world, you’d think this
would be the year celebrities would put their differences aside and get
along? Yeah, right! While Twitter feuds were still all the rage, many
celebs’ fighting words were more than 140 characters long. Take a look
back at some of the biggest celeb beefs of 2016.
Dwayne ‘the Rock’ Johnson vs. Vin Diesel
Tempers were flying high on the set of the testosterone-heavy Fast 8
film. In August, Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson went off on a rant against
his male co-stars on Instagram, writing, “Some conduct themselves as
stand up men
Kimye vs. Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift and Kanye West reignited their infamous feud, this time with a little help from the rapper's wife. It all started with the following line from West's song "Famous:" "I still feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why? I made that b**** famous." Swift expressed outrage at the lyric, but West said he had her permission to use it, insisting they had spoken beforehand. Swift's rep denied this. Enter Kim Kardashian. She came to her hubby’s defense when she uploaded video clips to Snapchat from his hour-long conversation with Swift where she does appear to approve the lyric. The “Shake It Off” singer” then backtracked, explaining she was upset because she was never told she was going to be referred to as "b****" in the song. "You don't get to control someone's emotional response to being called 'that b****' in front of the entire world," Swift responded. “Being falsely painted as a liar when I was never given the full story or played any part of the song is character assassination. I would very much like to be excluded from this narrative, one that I have never asked to be a part of, since 2009.” That would be the year West stormed the stage at the MTV Video Music Awards and interrupted Swift’s acceptance speech for Best Female Video.
Chrissy Teigen vs. Piers Morgan
The beef between Chrissy Teigen and Piers Morgan also guest-stars Jennifer Aniston. After Aniston wrote an op-ed on being fed up with the tabloid culture, Morgan penned a piece for the Daily Mail essentially calling her a hypocrite. After reading Morgan’s post, Teigen couldn’t resist tweeting at him: "Why do you ALWAYS take the road of being the piece of s*** a**hole?" The two went back and forth, with Morgan calling the model the lamest "celebrity troll." He also brought John Legend into it: "Your husband's a genius so I forgive your childish impudence." At that, Teigen fired back, "my husband thinks you are one of the most misogynistic, condescending morons on the planet but thank you." Morgan retorted, "Well he married you, so we all have our problems." Ouch
Debra Messing vs. Susan Sarandon
The 2016 presidential election is over, but the beef between Debra Messing and Susan Sarandon is not. It all started when Sarandon, a huge Bernie Sanders supporter, seemingly implied she would rather have Donald Trump win the presidency over Hillary Clinton. Messing — who spoke at the Democratic National Convention in support of Hillary — did not take that lightly. The two engaged in an ongoing Twitter spat throughout the 2016 election. Sarandon ended up not supporting Hillary or Donald, instead voting for a third-party candidate. Messing held the Thelma & Louise star accountable after Trump’s victory and the two were still going at it several weeks after the election. Time to move on, ladies. (Photo: AP Images)

Justin Bieber vs. Selena GomezAfter starting the year off with rumors of a reconciliation, the duo formerly known as Jelena took a turn for the worst. Over the summer, Selena Gomez called out Justin Bieber on Instagram after he posted photos with his then-gal-pal Sofia Richie. "If you can't handle the hate then stop posting pictures of your girlfriend lol — it should be special between you two only," she wrote in response to Bieber threatening to make his social media accounts private due to his fans' hate of Richie. The “Sorry” singer fired back and their war of words (all in the comment section, mind you) got pretty personal. Gomez claimed Bieber cheated on her multiple times, while Bieber alleged she did the same … with Zayn Malik. It doesn't appear that the two have reconciled since. We’ll just have to wait and see. - Chloë Grace Moretz vs. Kim Kardashian
- There are still some people who find Kim Kardashian's nude selfie behavior appalling, like Chloë Grace Moretz. The 19-year-old actress slammed Kardashian after the reality star made waves in March with a particular racy pic. “I truly hope you realize how important setting goals are for young women, teaching them we have so much more to offer than just our bodies,” the Neighbors 2 star tweeted. Kim snapped back, “Let's all welcome @ChloeGMoretz to twitter, since no one knows who she is.” Moretz later said
